Thank God For The Recession!

Recession Kills The Clutter

If you weren’t creating clients and making money in your footwear business in 2009, you were just creating clutter.

Welcome to the new economy and the new consumer, if you’re not Rethinking, Revamping your retail business…Good Luck!

Here is the retail reality, you have no excuses for not having customers running to your business, pounding on your windows and yelling “Let Me In”.

The recession closed down half of your competition, over 300,000 retail stores closed…Poof! What have you done to grab some of this market share?

Thank God for the recession! I don’t feel bad about retailers that were in business for the last twenty five to fifty years and woke up in 2009 to see their business crushed.

In fact I see it as their retirement, freedom to enjoy life instead of trying to avoid the inevitable. You see the recession wasn’t the killer of small businesses in America, the owners of the businesses were the guilty ones.

You see everything changes, trends, fashion, people and lifestyles but most businesses didn’t care to change…they lived by the mantra;

Why Fix, What’s Not Broken?

and with that type of mindset, we’d still be riding five hours into town in a wooden buggy led by a horse saying “Giddy Up”…

Where there is no change in mindset, there is no change in business.

So owners never prepared for the recession, never cared enough to create an iron cage around their clients, never cared enough to get client data, never cared enough to train their sales associates, never cared enough to invest in new marketing strategies to drive consistent traffic…the owners never cared enough about the business to keep it alive.

It’s like walking into a doctors office and you find out you’re a diabetic, the Doctor tells you to lose weight, stay away from carbs, exercise daily and you still continue to eat Twinkies every night…

You hope everything gets better, you hope the economy picks up, you hope your store is busy today but you’re not in the hope business, You’re in the retail business.

The recession didn’t kill small business, it wasn’t murder…It was Mass Suicide!

The retail clutter is gone, so it’s time to go out and get your share of the market, time to get those lost customers and take their money because if you don’t get it, someone else will.

Now go put your competition out of business!…
